Spring Owner's Guide

We are pleased to announce a new publication on the care and protection of some of our state's most fragile water resources; springs. They have played a major cultural, historical, ecological, and spiritual role in shaping Texas and are as varied and unique as the landscape.

The intent of the Spring Owner's Guide is to increase awareness of the importance of springs and to assist spring owners in taking steps to care for their springs. Many springs have disappeared and the quality, integrity, and existence of many more are threatened. The role of the landowner as steward and caretaker is crucial in protecting these resources for current uses, and the benefit of Texans to come.

The Guide recommends resources by topic in order to encourage further education and exploration and additional resources are listed at the end of the guide.

We are currently working to make a web-friendly version of the guide. For now, copies are available by contacting the Springs of Texas Project at (512) 327-6915 or via e-mail at springsoftexas@sbcglobal.net.
